Plumb Cafe

Plumb Cafe
Like a leg before wicket, the Plumb cafe is a no brainer.
Located at the home of Tasmanian cricket (and wannabe AFL interloper), the Blundstone Arena, Plumb has consolidated the eastern shore as a café destination.
Make breakfast how you like it (except you won’t cook or wash up) with eggs and toast for $10. Add your choice of sides like free-range bacon or smoked salmon for $3.50, halloumi or baked mushrooms for $3.00 or perhaps a little spinach and caramelised onion or avocado salsa for $2.50.
The Two Girls chose:

The lunch menu includes the traditional Reuben for $14 or their own Blundstone Burger with chipotle mayonnaise and fat chips for $18. Parents will be pleased that there’s a kids’ menu that doesn’t include chicken nuggets. Little folk can have a ham and cheese toastie for $6, penne pesto for $8 or the crowd-pleasing tomato and cheese pizza for $8.
Plumb is a café befitting a major sporting complex. It won’t wow you with art and ambience, it’s modern and perfunctory. Patrons enter the café at the top of the Arena’s massive staircase and the design sits C-shaped around the kitchen. There’s a huge communal table as you come in, and the passageway of two-seated tables adjacent the kitchen opens up on a small area with larger table capacity.
What Plumb offers is a decent coffee and feed that isn’t Salamanca or NoHo-centric. Eastern shore resos can say ‘amen’ to that.
The corn fritters were the pick of our meals and it was a meal made for an athlete four corn fritters piled high. The second meal was more smashed feta than smashed avocado.
Service was a little distracted on our visit but generally affable and the place was full of happy punters.
The Two Girls reside on the other shore. But if we were locals, we reckon you’d see us there from time to time. It's great the eastern shore is taking off as its own foodie destination too. If you’re in the neighbourhood you should give it a whirl.
You can find Plumb on Facebook here. You can find their menu there too.
They’re open Monday to Friday, 7.30 am – 2.30 pm, Saturday, 7.30 am – 2.00 pm and Sunday, 8.00 am – 2.00 pm.
They are located at the Blundstone Arena, Derwent Street, Bellerive.

The Two Girls also liked Moto Vecchi which are also on the eastern shore.
